Uses
Oseltamivir Phosphate prevents you from influenza. It can be given to save
other members of family and from getting sick. Oseltamivir Phosphate has been
used for treatment of adults, adolescents, pediatric patients. It prevents the
chance of spreading flu in case it outbreak in society. Oseltamivir Phosphate
does not treat any flu other than influenza. Oseltamivir Phosphate is not an
influenza vaccination. It should not be given to children less than one year.
How to take
Oseltamivir phosphate should be taken as prescribed by doctor. You should inform
your doctor if having any type of kidney disease, already pregnant, or are breast-feeding
or undergoing any other medications. Oseltamivir Phosphate in some cases produces
some side effects. Some common side effects are Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea,
bronchitis, stomach pain, dizziness, and headache. Oseltamivir Phosphate 75
mg for adults to be taken twice a day for up to five days. Children should be
given 30-75 mg taken twice a day for up to five days.
Side effects
The most common side effects of oseltamivir phosphate are nausea, vomiting
and diarrhea. Sometimespeople report getting headaches when they takeoseltamivir
phosphate.In 2005, Japanese media released reports that young people taking
oseltamivir phosphate exhibited abnormal behavior. It was reported that oseltamivir
phosphate was linked to 64 cases of psychological disorders and 2 teenage suicides.
After the Japanese reports, the FDA conducted a review of data regarding pediatric
use of oseltamivir phosphate. The FDA gave oseltamivir phosphate a clean bill
of health. FDA was "unable toconclude that there is a causal relationship
between oseltamivir phosphate and the reported pediatric deaths".
Precaution
· You should not take oseltamivir phosphate if you are allergic to oseltamivir
phosphate or any other ingredients of oseltamivir phosphate.
· Oseltamivir phosphate is normally not recommended for use during pregnancy
or nursing, as the effects on the unborn child or nursing infant are unknown.
If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or breastfeeding while taking
oseltamivir phosphate, talk to your doctor before taking oseltamivir phosphate.
· If you have any type of kidney disease, talk to your doctor before
starting oseltamivir phosphate therapy.
The use of oseltamivir phosphate along with an intranasal flu vaccine like FluMistŪ*
has not been evaluated. However, due to the possibility for interference between
these products, an intranasal flu vaccine should not be given within 2 weeks
before or 48 hours after taking oseltamivir phosphate, unless it is deemed appropriate
by your doctor. The type of flu vaccine administered as a shot through the skin
can be given at any time relative to use of oseltamivir phosphate.
Drug interactions
There are no restrictions on food, beverages, or activities while taking Oseltamivir
Phosphate unless otherwise directed by your doctor.
Missed dose
Try to take your missed dose just as soon as you can remember to, and then
continue to take Oseltamivir Phosphate at the usual times. However, if you don't
happen to remember the missed dose until it is almost time for your next dose
(within 2 hours), skip the dose you missed and take only your next regularly
scheduled doses at the usual times. It is important that you do not take a double
dose of Oseltamivir Phosphate.
Storage
Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (between 15 and 30 degrees
C) away from moisture and sunlight. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep away
from children and pets.
